Nestled between two ponds in Gruissan on what used to be an island, the Domaine de L'Evêque extends over 50 hectares of garrigue and vineyards where the traditional Corbières grape varieties are cultivated using sustainable agriculture (HVE Level 3). The estate located on a peninsula of the maritime Corbières was once owned by the bishops of Narbonne. Pierre Richard discovered it by chance in 1986 and immediately fell under the charm of its unique topography and landscape. There is water everywhere, 2 ponds, canals and even the sea to fulfill his passion for fishing. But it is especially the speech of the steward of the time that he keeps in memory when he returns to Paris. His relationship with the land and his sense of sharing touched him deeply. A few weeks later, he bought the estate and embarked on the great wine adventure. If the vineyard and its landscape, proud, rustic and delicate at the same time, invite dreams and poetry, the unexpected surprises of working the land force humility ... Tenacious and in search of perfection, Pierre Richard has become in 30 years an accomplished winemaker who makes wines that reflect the richness of this unique terroir. Distributed nationally and internationally and regularly awarded, Pierre Richard wines are enjoying a growing reputation. They remain in the image of their author, as friendly, endearing and popular as ever.
