In the valley between San Pietro in Cariano and Fumane there is Villa Girardi, a family business that started in 1986. It is in this historic area of the Valpolicella Classico that the owner and winemaker Franco Tommasi pursued the dream of his life. He settled in a typical Venetian villa, designed by Luigi Trezza, which dates back to the late 1700s. The villa is set in a large park with century-old trees, surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyards. The soils are rich in limestone and the climate is mild which are ideal conditions for the cultivation of the native vines Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and Molinara. Over the years, the estate has grown by acquiring new land in the DOC zone of the province of Verona and has specialized in the production of high quality wines such as Amarone and Ripasso.
