The ambitious story of Massaya. An estate that arose from the ashes of the Lebanese civil war. After moving to the United States for a few years to flee the civil war that was raging in Lebanon, the Ghosn family returned to their homeland in Tanaïl, in the Beqaa Valley, in 1992. The family estate was then in operation. ruins, occupied by squatters and the vines are abandoned. Sami Ghosn refuses to let himself be defeated and undertakes to recover his property in order to transform it into a renowned wine estate: Massaya. The Ghosn brothers take over the family distillery and the production of arak. For wine production, they seek advice from experienced French winemakers: Dominique Hebrard from the Bordeaux region and the Brunier family from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The first bottles were marketed in 1998 and quality was essential. Then in July 2014, the Ghosn brothers celebrated the launch of their new cellar located in Faqra, in altitude, and which allows them to grow white grapes in height and to age red wines at cooler temperatures than in the Valley of the Beqaa. Sami Ghosn's ambition has borne fruit and Domaine Massaya, very famous in Lebanon, has today acquired international renown.
