The passion for the most exceptional cognacs has been passed down in the family since 1759, when James Delamain - who came from Ireland - set up as a merchant in Jarnac. In 1824, his grandson Henri Delamain founded the House of Delamain. Over the generations, successive owners have breathed a part of themselves into their cognac. For in addition to running the House, they were at the same time archaeologist, ornithologist, historian, writer, humanist, botanist. This open-mindedness to natural and human sciences has contributed to the revelation of these exceptional cognacs. The Bollinger family joined the House of Delamain more than 20 years ago and today presides over the destiny of the company. Together, the two families perpetuate the history and write the new chapters with the guiding principle of preserving the excellence and the unfailing position of the cognac craftsman... ... guardians of time in Grande Champagne. TAKE THE TIME, To be an ally, that's the spirit of a great house: It could not be otherwise - and it is one of the few Houses to do so - the House of Delamain selects eaux-de-vie exclusively from the "Grande Champagne" appellation, the melting pot of the best Cognac vintages. But this is not enough to make the exception or excellence. In a world where everything goes very fast, the House of Delamain takes all the time it needs to taste the samples entrusted to it by some of the region's "bouilleurs de cru" (distillers). Taking the time, making an ally out of it, is the spirit of a Grande Maison that has for centuries woven bonds of friendship and trust with local producers. Here again, it's all a question of time. These are rare bottles, displaying honourable ages, sometimes 50 years and more. The decision is crucial and several weeks may pass before a wise and settled verdict is reached. It is the House of Delamain that one turns to and not to another. The whole country knows that it respects the work of the elders and that here will be magnified beyond all their precious nectars.
