About this winery

We planted our first vineyard in 1981 with a mission to produce world-class Bordeaux-style blends. Since then, we have expanded our knowledge of viticulture in this unique region, as well as our acreage. Rich in fossilized limestone from ancient marine deposits, JUSTIN's soil is ideally suited to creating great Bordeaux-style red wines. Product notes

2021 started with a cool, dry winter with alternating temperatures occurring throughout the entire season. Budbreak began in late March and continued through much of April slightly later than usual. The weather continued to fluctuate, trending a bit warmer than normal through the beginning of June. Low nighttime temperatures combined with few windy days during flowering caused uneven fruit-set in some blocks, naturally reducing our yields and focusing each vine’s energy on the fruit that remained. July began warm and the heat gradually increased into August, bringing ripeness and maturity levels to normal for the vintage. Some cooling toward the end of August slowed things down and we harvested our early red blocks for the Rosé only as each block saw the perfect ripeness levels to give the profile needed to make a lighter fresher Rosé, while also developing the maturity required to give full fruit and depth of flavors.

Tasting notes

Appearance: Bright and clear with a pale salmon color with copper highlights. Aroma: Very aromatic with ripe strawberry, melon, stone fruit and fresh floral notes Palate: Medium-bodied and complex with red berry, cranberry, nectarine, and melon on the entry. White tea with a pleasant herbal component of chamomile and subtle floral notes on the mid-palate. Sustained fruit notes and a finely textured mineral component highlight a moderately long finish. The 2021 JUSTIN Rosé is refreshing, textured and balanced, making it the perfect complement for a wide variety of dishes and occasions all year long. Try it with traditional seafood paella, made with prawns, clams, mussels and saffron rice, or with a watermelon and goat cheese salad.
