A leather parchment manuscript, written in Latin, dating from 1456 attests that at that time the Burc family already owned land in Cahors. All this is confirmed by vineyard property bulletins dating from 1663 and 1838. Since then generations of winegrowers have succeeded one another on this predestined soil. Today the 5th and 6th generation are working in collaboration. Anne and Emmanuelle have decided to bring their support, their help and their new know-how to the family farm. The Vineyard Our vineyard has the originality to gather on 50 hectares all the types of soils characterizing the appellation. It is distributed on the different terraces of the Lot, made up of a limestone subsoil enriched with ancient alluvium, and on the causse composed of stony stones coated with marl and clay. Planted with 85% Malbec and 15% Merlot, the vines of the Pineraie are positioned on the 2nd and 3rd terraces and on the limestone plateaus. Indeed, about ten hectares are located in the commune of Lacapelle Cabannac, clayey at the bottom, chalky clay and hard flint at the top. On each plot the yields are adapted and controlled to obtain ripe and healthy grapes, and thus get the best out of each one. We are particularly keen on quality control, so we practise integrated cultivation. Indeed our phytosanitary treatments are made according to the parasitic pressure estimated by weekly counts and meteorological observations. The Vineyard Controlling quality also means protecting nature. Reasoned culture has become a priority at CHATEAU PINERAIE because a pure and healthy environment is the key to a sustainable and serene future. Phytosanitary treatment according to the parasite pressure estimated by weekly counts. Green harvesting and leaf thinning are carried out according to the yields and needs of the bunch. The vine speaks and you have to know how to listen to it! The maintenance of the vine is based on the permanent observation of its condition. The slightest deficiency is declared by the state of the leaf. This is how it expresses its slightest discomfort to us so that we can take care of it.
