One of these prominent figures in the history of Laubade is Joseph Noulens, who contributed to the reconstruction of the castle until 1902. Famous French statesman - he was the French ambassador to Petrograd (St. Petersburg) during the Russian Revolution in 1917, then Minister of War, Finance and Agriculture in the administration of Georges Clemenceau - Mr. Noulens gradually turned Laubade Castle into an agronomic and scientific pilot farm with significant influence in France. Joseph Noulens' second wife was Jeanne Paquin, the first famous French fashion designer and the founder of the world famous luxury house "Paquin". As a result, she strongly contributed to the reputation of the estate and its worldwide influence, through the design creations she created during her various stays at Laubade. "It all started in 1974, when our grandfather, Maurice Lesgourgues, discovered the Château de Laubade: it was love at first sight. He knew right away that everything was there to offer the best of Armagnac: a château full of history, a unique terroir in Bas Armagnac and remarkably well-kept brandies. " Arnaud and Denis Lesgourgues. Then, Jean-Jacques Lesgourgues, Maurice's son, quickly managed the house with a single objective: to revive the former glory of Château de Laubade. Thanks to a visionary and audacious strategy, he made the property a key player in the Armagnac industry in search of quality. Step by step, he built up a vast inventory which is today the largest in the Appellation. The house has expanded in both national and international markets, with a particular emphasis on selective distribution, including the best wine stores and high-end restaurants around the world. Since 1998, Arnaud and Denis Lesgourgues, the third generation, have been actively involved in the quest for excellence, making Château de Laubade an undisputed reference in the Armagnac category. In 2010, Château de Laubade celebrated its 140 years of history, with a superb ceremony in the cellars of the château, organized around a gastronomic dinner prepared by Alain Dutournier, chef (2 Michelin stars) of the Carré des Feuillant restaurant in Paris. For the occasion, a 1910 Laubade was opened and tasted by the 140 prestigious guests from all over the world. Since 2014, Château de Laubade has been one of the very first Armagnac houses to receive the prestigious "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (Living Heritage Company) distinction. The label Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) is a mark of recognition from the French State, set up to reward French companies for the excellence of their traditional and industrial know-how.
