About this winery

John and Henrietta Goelet founded Clos Du Val in 1972. A descendant of Bordeaux's famed wine merchant, Barton & Guestier, John had a vision of producing Cabernet Sauvignon that would rival the world’s best. French trained winemaker Bernard Portet was selected to head the search for the perfect property from which to produce these wines. Production notes

Traditional fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Ageing for 10 months in oak barrels of which 40% are new oak (French and Hungarian).

Tasting notes

Of beautiful ruby red color, this Pinot Noir is of a great limpidity. On the nose, aromas of nutmeg and black cherry. On the palate, spices, strawberry, vanilla and cinnamon flavors lead to a soft and fruity finish. Ideal with maple syrup glazed ham, turkey breast stuffed with cranberries, nuts and cheese, filet mignon skewers, duck à la pékinoise, rack of pork, coq au vin.
